Pope Francis has changed the Lord's Prayer

Pope Francis has approved a change to the wording of the lord 's prayer.

Instead of saying "Lead us not into temptation", it will say "Do not let us into temptation".

The Pope believes that the wording was not a good translation because it speaks of a God who induces "temptation".

"I am the one who falls, it is not him pushing me into temptation to then see how I have fallen" Pope told Italian TV.

"A father doesn't do that, a father helps you to get up immediately,. It is Satan who leads us into temptation that 's his department" he added.

However some have expressed concern about the changes, the catholic church in England and Wales said it had no immediate plans to change the wording.

"The lord' s prayer has been changed in the Italian language - there are no plans at present for it to change in English" spokesperson said.

Pope Francis also previously said that the Roman catholic church should apologise to gay people for the way they have treated them.

He told reporters that the church should seek forgiveness from those whom it had marginalised.

"I will repeat what the catechism of the church says, that they (homosexuality) should not be discriminated against, that they should be respected, accompanied pastorally" he said.

Since the beginning of his papacy, Pope Francis has received so many critics.

Some Bishops, theologians and cardinals have asked for the pope to resign or promptly disappear from the scene.

The catholic church has been subject to criticism throughout its history for its beliefs and practices.
