Okaba Emmanuel Etis Ebipade, popularly known by the mononym 'MARIEL', is a fast rising Soul/RnB, pop rock; gospel, inspirational/reality singer, song writer, model and creative director, known to be very daring, creative and fashion forward. A member of CGMI: The Exousia Place. Mariel believes understanding and acknowledging the genuine love of God in Christ is the way out of the world's problems. One of his brand's mission is to present church not packaged in the traditional way it is known, thereby reaching out to souls who have been broken, made to feel condemned, and worthless by religious people and the world's standard.
Born on the 27th of February, the music addict is a native of Bomadi LGA in Delta State and Sagbama LGA in Bayelsa State of Nigeria respectively.
The rising star studied at the prestigious Niger Delta University, where he won the first NDU talent hunt. He then decided to do gospel music saying that's where his satisfaction and fulfillment is derived.
He is the first male contestant who made it into the Chords of David gospel music contest grand finale.
After a brief hiatus from music, in 2020 he made it to the semifinals round of the Niger Delta got Talent hunt before voluntarily withdrawing to pursue ODIGOTH 4 gospel contest where he won 3 awards, making it to the top finalists.
Inspired by various musicians, with some of his musical influences as; Jonathan McReynolds, Travis Green, Luther Vandross,Todd Dulaney, Medlye, Beyonce, Fantasia, Jessica Reedy, Toni Braxton, Onos Ariyo, Darey Art Alade, amongst many others.
In his (Mariel's) words, the song people originally by Jonathan McReynolds from the 2019 EP "People" has inspired him a lot and brought him out of so many dark times, throwing on him the light that every hurt, love, (the good and the bad) is caused by people, and we ourselves in one way or other have hurt people. Thus, instead of fighting back at people, and living with hate and bitterness, it is better in every ramification to turn to God's love to heal our hearts and minds, and save us from ourselves.
People is certainly a song for every soul.
